About

As a school teacher, Head of Science, Languages and Sport, with an MA in Education and an MSC in Human Health & Wellbeing, I have developed a strong passion for supporting mental health and wellbeing of young people and adults around us. I am also passionate about protecting our planet and I whole-heartedly believe that spending time in nature and helping our environment supports mental health and wellbeing.

I (Sarah) was awarded the Dean’s Commendation on completing the MSc in Human Health & Wellbeing with the University of Exeter and went on to have a paper published: A fragmented sense of home: Reconfiguring therapeutic coastal encounters in Covid-19 times - ScienceDirect

With 3 years of teaching English as a Foreign Language as well as helping set up and volunteer in a Street School in Indonesia, I have always supported the wellbeing of people in my care, wherever I have been.

When not working, there are too many adventures and passions to list but personal highlights are:

  • My partner Kai, our young boy Sebby, our families, friends and Tango our dog!

  • Sailing in a crew of 4 across the Atlantic Ocean and South Pacific Ocean.

  • Pottering around in the garden and cooking meals from home-produce.

  • Surfing.

  • Solo cycling and camping from Devon, UK to Nice, South of France.

  • Walking and camping the entire South West Coast Path and have recently started the Welsh Coast Path (to be continued!)

Our planet and the ocean is a part of my every day life. Having moved to the coast of North Devon 7 years ago and with the Covid-19 travel restrictions, I have become increasingly content with my daily and local adventures at the beach with my family, friends and dog, Tango. Whether it is surfing, stand-up paddle boarding (Tango loves to paddle board!), cold water swimming at sunrise in the winter with friends or simply, walking along the beach, I feel incredibly lucky to live in such a beautiful corner of the world. I daily try to protect it as well as promote it as a tool for bringing smiles to those who access it.

When not working on CEET projects, I also run Environmental Educational Consultancy Ltd , delivering environmental education services to schools and other educational organisations.

Meet our wonderful volunteers: The CEET team

All our staff work with school groups but here is some extra information. Pictures from left to right.

  • Sarah is the CEO/ Director and started CEET in April 2022. Sarah with her dog, Tango, run sessions including: the alternative provision, school groups, after school groups, refugee and over 55s groups as well as the admin and grant application.

  • Clare has been volunteering with us since the beginning of 2023 and is also one of CEET’s Directors. Clare is an avid member of our allotment group and works closely with small groups within our allotment club allowing the children to shine and open up. She can also be found making a huge tug-of-war with some of the biggest weeds using the children as a team to get those pesky weeds out.

  • Karen has been volunteering with us since the beginning of CEET. With years of experience of working with vulnerable people and an artist, Karen brings so much to CEET.

  • Hope, Karen’s daughter is our youngest volunteer (14 years old) but is a natural teacher and has such kindness and empathy with the children we work with.

  • Ella has been volunteering with us since 2023. Ella has a background in Environmental science, is incredibly knowledgeable about all the bugs and insects around us and has many years of working with groups of people. Ella does all our wonderful social media and helps manage the allotment with Sarah behind the scenes.

  • Chris (in the middle-back of the group photograph) is one of CEET’s directors and has a wealth of local and business knowledge as well as a huge support to the team.

  • Amber has been volunteering with us since the beginning of CEET. She can be found teaching yoga to our different groups in the allotment, on walks or anywhere. Such a kind soul who we wouldn’t be without.

  • James, Amber’s son, now also helps at our allotment club running a drawing activity on our sessions. James’ confidence has developed in leaps and bounds and the group love his drawing activities. We are delighted to have James as part of CEET.

  • All the staff and volunteers share the same passions and beliefs. That spending time in nature, caring for our community, environment and people make a huge difference to everyone's wellbeing.

All volunteers working with young or vulnerable attendees will have enhanced checks from the Disclosure and Barring Service, dated within 5 years and at the current home address. CEET will not employ people with unsuitable DBS certificates. All volunteers and visitors will be vetted by gathering references/employment history/ a record of qualifications/ or because we will have had prior personal knowledge of the person. If the visitor has a DBS certificate relevant to working with children or vulnerable adults, this will be checked by the management of CEET. Participants will not be left unsupervised with a visitor or volunteer where no DBS certificate has been seen.
